About SolarKitHQ

SolarKitHQ helps you choose the right equipment: solar panel kits, portable and flexible solar panels, MC4 cables and mounts, portable power stations, solar generators, home backup power stations, solar chargers, LiFePO4 and deep cycle batteries, battery chargers and monitors, charge controllers, power inverters, inverter chargers, DC to DC chargers, solar lights, solar security cameras and solar fans.

We write for three kinds of solar buyer: homeowners who want plug-in backup power for outages, RV, van and boat owners building a battery and panel system, and campers, cabin owners and off-grid beginners who need power away from an outlet.

Listings answer some questions and leave others out. We answer the ones buyers actually ask. How many watt-hours does this power station hold, and what will its outlets run? Will this panel’s voltage stay inside my controller’s input limit? Does this LiFePO4 battery have low temperature protection? Is this inverter pure sine, and what is its surge rating? Will this solar light reach the corner of my yard?

How we compare gear

We compare products by the details that decide whether they suit you: rated watts, voltage and connectors for panels; watt-hours, continuous and surge watts and solar input for power stations; amp-hours, BMS limits and cycle life for batteries; charge current and PV input voltage for controllers; continuous and surge watts for inverters; lumens and weather rating for solar lights; and the warranty. Every product carries a Solar Score built from the same five criteria.

We are direct about the limits of this. We do not run our own product trials, and we do not take physical measurements of products. Our How We Pick page explains exactly what our process involves and what it does not.

What we will not do

  • We do not explain how to wire anything into a home electrical panel, a transfer switch or the utility grid, and we do not cover grid-tie systems; that work belongs to a licensed electrician.
  • We never promise electricity bill savings or payback, never mention tax credits or rebates, and we report watts, watt-hours, amp-hours, cycle life and certifications only as the listing states them.
  • We do not invent specifications, ratings or prices, and we do not copy Amazon customer reviews or star ratings into our articles.
  • We do not write prices into our articles, because they change constantly.

Who runs SolarKitHQ

SolarKitHQ is written and edited by the SolarKitHQ Editorial team. The team sets the editorial standards, maintains the Solar Score method and its published weights, decides what gets published, and is responsible for accuracy, sourcing and corrections. How we use AI drafting tools is explained in our Editorial Policy.

How we are funded

SolarKitHQ earns money through affiliate links. When you buy through one, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. A commission never decides what we recommend or how we rank it. The details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.
