Solar Panel Kits

Solar panel kits for RVs, sheds, cabins and boats compared by rated watts, panel count, included charge controller, cables, mounts and stated warranty terms.

What to compare in solar panel kits

A kit bundles panels, a controller and cables, so the real question is whether those parts match each other and your battery. Start with the parts list.

  • Panel count and watts: Add up the stated watts of every panel in the box. That total is a rated figure, and real output sits below it.
  • Controller type and limits: PWM and MPPT controllers behave differently. Compare the controller's stated maximum PV voltage and amp rating with the panels included.
  • System voltage: 12V, 24V and 48V kits do not interchange. Choose the voltage your battery bank uses.
  • Battery chemistry: Controllers list supported types such as AGM, gel, flooded and LiFePO4. Confirm yours is named.
  • Inverter in the box: Some kits add an inverter, others stop at the controller. If one is listed, look at continuous watts and surge watts separately.
  • Cables and hardware: Check that cable length and gauge are stated, and whether mounting hardware is part of the set.

Compare two kits line by line using the same four figures: panel watts, controller voltage limit, controller amps and system voltage. If any pair disagrees, the kit is mismatched, whatever the bundle promises.
