Deep Cycle and RV Batteries

Deep cycle, AGM and RV house batteries compared by voltage, amp-hours, chemistry, group size, terminal type, weight and stated warranty for solar storage.

What to compare in deep cycle and rv batteries

Deep cycle batteries come in AGM, gel, flooded and lithium forms. The chemistry on the listing sets weight, upkeep and how the battery behaves when deeply discharged.

  • Chemistry: AGM, gel, flooded, LiFePO4 and sodium-ion differ in weight, maintenance and charging needs. Read the one the listing names before looking at any other line.
  • Capacity as stated: Ah at a stated voltage tells you what the bank holds. Check the rating basis the listing uses, since capacity is quoted at different discharge rates.
  • Group size: Group 24, 27 and 31 cases differ in length and height. Confirm the case dimensions fit your battery tray or box.
  • Terminal type: Post, stud and L-type terminals call for different cable ends, so check which the listing shows and buy lugs to suit.
  • Charge profile: Flooded, AGM and gel want different charge voltages. If the listing names a charge voltage window, make sure your charger offers it.
  • Warranty: Read the stated length and any conditions on the listing, including what usage might void it.

Compare batteries at the same stated voltage and capacity basis. A pair of listings can look alike while quoting different rating conditions, so read the footnotes carefully.
