How we scored them
The Solar Score weighs performance, build, value, safety and warranty. For flood lights, safety means the water code and stated certifications; all five state an IP code, and the TORCHSTAR states ETL and FCC listing. Every listing here states a warranty term. How we pick explains the weights.
| Product | Solar Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deepn 2-pack | 9.8 | 33 | 21 | 22 | 7 | 5 |
| JWT 2-pack | 9.7 | 29 | 20 | 21 | 7 | 5 |
| ropelux 3-head | 9.6 | 30 | 19 | 20 | 6 | 5 |
| TORCHSTAR 40W | 9.5 | 26 | 21 | 15 | 7 | 5 |
| SUPERDANNY 113-LED | 9.5 | 26 | 18 | 19 | 6 | 5 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.
How to choose the best solar flood lights for barn
The not-solar exception
The TORCHSTAR listing states plainly that the light is not solar powered and not battery operated: it is a hardwired 40W LED barn light on 110 to 277V AC with a photocell, at 4200 lumens. It scored well on brightness, certifications and warranty, but do not buy it expecting solar. Our solar vs wired flood lights guide covers the tradeoffs.
Brightness honesty
The ropelux spec table states 7000 lumens across three heads, the highest stated figure here. The TORCHSTAR states 4200 lumens and the SUPERDANNY states 1000 lumens. The Deepn title states 12000W, which is a wattage-style model figure rather than a lumen figure, and the JWT states no lumen figure at all; do not rank those two on brightness.
Water codes
The Deepn states IP67, the strongest code here, and handles 12 to 14 hours of full brightness plus 36 hours on low. The JWT states IP66 with an 8 to 20 hour runtime range. The ropelux, SUPERDANNY and TORCHSTAR state IP65. Barns see dust, rain and hose water, so IP66 and IP67 buy real margin.
Modes and runtimes
The JWT lists five mode groups with a remote, adjustable brightness and a timer, the richest control set here. The Deepn has motion sensor, timing and four brightness levels with a remote. The ropelux has three modes with dual motion sensors, and the SUPERDANNY has three modes with a 23-foot sensor. The TORCHSTAR is photocell dusk-to-dawn only, hardwired. For more remote-controlled options, see our best solar flood lights with remote guide.
Mounting
The JWT mounts on wall or pole, and the Deepn fits 1.8 to 3.7 inch poles as well as walls. The ropelux and SUPERDANNY are wall mounts; the SUPERDANNY adds a 16.4-foot cable between panel and light. The TORCHSTAR is a wall-mount hardwired fixture.
Sizing Notes
- Check the power source: the TORCHSTAR is hardwired AC, not solar.
- Check brightness honesty: 7000 lm (ropelux), 4200 lm (TORCHSTAR), 1000 lm (SUPERDANNY); the Deepn and JWT state no lumen figure.
- Check the water code: IP67 (Deepn), IP66 (JWT), IP65 (the rest).
- Check the warranty term: 3 years (TORCHSTAR), 2 years (Deepn, JWT), 1 year (ropelux, SUPERDANNY).
